May 2024 Blog

We have had an active few months with several meetings at the Men’s Shed in Weybridge. Our written work in progress has been shared and raised laughs as well as serious discussions at times!

David has been working on his potential book of short stories. Guy has sent his Philosophy book to be published. He has given a talk on Windmills to the Shepperton Historical Society. He showed us the cover of the second edition of his book ‘Philosophy from the Edge’. We all agreed the cover looked really good.

Alex told the group about her recent very successful Blog Tour of ‘The Asymmetric Man’ which has had some fabulous reviews on Instagram, Amazon and Goodreads. She was also featured, along with other women novelists, in April’s WI Life monthly magazine. On 1st May she attended the SWWJ 130th celebration at the House of Lords. This was a fantastic event with some 110 people attending and hosted by their President Baroness Floella Benjamin. The photo shows Alex on the House of Lords’ Terrace with two other members of the SWWJ.

Jess has finished her book ‘Pursuing the Porcelain Pirate’. Her next task is to edit it and do the illustrations. She is now planning a third book. In the meantime she is busy on Instagram with her short videos. James is enjoying David Walliams’ ‘The Blunders’, a very funny tale about the escapades of a family who live in a crumbling house. Austin’s screenplay is being circulated to potential film crews. We wish him every success! Howard and Ann are not actively writing at the moment.

Two potential new members have reached out to us via the website, which is great. We look forward to meeting them and including them in our group.

The next meeting will be on 20th June at the Men’s Shed.
